You might be familiar with small immersion heaters that warm-up coffee or tea. More robust immersion heaters used in labs and industry are also called immersion water heaters or tank heaters. These are submerged directly into a heated solution so there’s no heat loss during energy transfer. These immersion heaters are simple to use, efficient and operate best in water-based, nonflammable solutions within containers made from metal, glass or other high-temperature vessels.
Immersion heaters offer heating elements made with 316 stainless steel or PTFE-coating which can be used with chemically aggressive solutions. Both types are available in multiple shapes, sizes and wattage.
For heaters without built-in temperature controllers, you might need a separate variable-voltage or variable-time controller.
